Put Your Dukes Up
Now you can get an idea of Mikey’s personality by viewing this video that my brother posted on YouTube. That is me in the background holding my new nephew Tyler. Mikey is boxing with his Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Julie is filming.
Ice Cream Cake Success
Due to the fact that my husband INSISTS on having an ice cream cake for his birthday every year and that Baskin Robbin’s cakes are REALLY expensive … I have started a tradition of attempting to make a homemade ice cream cake each year. So far I have had 3 utter failures which we have documented quite nicely with photographs. However, this year I actually managed to achieve success! I think it looked almost professional and it definitely tasted professional. In case you have a husband who has this same obsession for ice cream cakes or else you just want to try a challenging new dessert, I have decided to document the whole process for you here. Happy Baking/Freezing!!!
BEFORE AFTER
Mikey’s Antics
The other night I was working in my gardens in the back yard and Mikey was out the “helping” me. I was bent over doing some weeding and Mikey was playing with our hose sprayer. Well all of a sudden he decided it would be a good idea to spray water right down my butt crack. It startled me so badly I shrieked and that scared Mikey and he started to cry.
Once we got over that shock he decided to start helping with the shoveling (since I took the hose away). Not 10 minutes later and he swung the shovel around and smacked me right in the forehead with the tip of it. After that I decided it was time to go inside for the night.
Which is worse …
poop or baby powder?
Mikey was “taking a nap” today and I went downstairs to work on some bills. After a while I heard him clunking around upstairs but I didn’t feel like fighting with him about it (we have done enough of that already) so I let it go. After a while all was quiet so I ran upstairs to see if he was asleep yet. He was laying in his bed naked so I went in to get mad at him for taking off his diaper (he’s half potty-training right now). Well when I came in I smelled a BAD smell and he says “Mommy I pooped in the potty!” The problem was he didn’t get me to help him wipe. ARGH! There was poop all over his bedding, pillow, and all over him, and when I went into the bathroom it was all over there too.
I started the clean up process and gathered up all the bedding and took it down to the basement to start a load of laundry. The smell of it all was so bad I was gagging as I went down the steps. I got everything all stain treated and loaded up and headed upstairs. Halfway up the steps I caught a wiff of something good. I quickly realized that it was baby powder I was smelling and I dreaded getting to the top of the stairs. Sure enough, at the top of the steps Mikey was standing there baby powder in hand (and all over himself). It got worse as I turned into the family room. The couch, piano, tv, floor, and about everything else in the room were COVERED in baby powder. THAT mess took me twice as long to clean up as the poop.
Now I am sitting here typing this so that I can calm myself down and laugh about it all instead of continuing to be ticked at him.
I am a Mother
I came across this article in a doctor’s office and it really struck a chord with me. This blog is dedicated to the joys (and pains) of motherhood. Hopefully all the mom’s out there can embrace motherhood and be inspired by this article like I was.

My Babies
Since this blog is about motherhood I figured it would be fitting to introduce you to the two wonderful children who allow me to claim the title of mother. I think they are about the cutest babies in the world, but I’m also fairly biased (although Mikey HAS won cutest baby in Orem two years in a row). You can be the judge. Here are my kiddos, I sure do love them.
Michael Paul (Mikey) is my oldest, he was born November 6, 2004. My water broke during my brother’s hockey game about 2 hours away from the hospital, so his entrance into this world was pretty exciting. Mikey is one of the funniest kids I know, so I’m sure you will be reading about his escapades quite frequently. He is quite the trouble-maker but we sure do love him. Every night he refuses to go to bed until both Mommy AND Daddy have given him a kiss.
Alexis Lori (Lexi) is our second child, born September 15, 2006. I delivered her via a planned c-section and it was SO nice to be able to plan ahead and have Mikey taken care of etc. She is just beginning to really show her personality. Our favorite thing she does is play shy. She’ll tuck her head down into her shoulder on one side and look at you with this coy little face. Then she’ll wrinkle up her nose and give you a huge smile. She’s quite the charmer.
